Originally from Laredo, Texas, Jaime earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Business from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2013 before completing his Master of Business Administration in 2015.
As a student, Jaime worked on campus throughout his undergraduate years before becoming a graduate assistant while pursuing his MBA. Those roles allowed him to build relationships with faculty, staff, and fellow students while developing the professional skills that would later open doors in the sports industry.
While pursuing his MBA, Jaime took a chance and applied for an internship with the Dallas Cowboys. As he navigated the opportunity, he connected with a fellow Javelina alumnus already working within the organization—a reminder that the Javelina network extends far beyond campus. What began with working the NFL Draft event soon grew into additional opportunities with the Cowboys’ Game Entertainment team, giving Jaime firsthand experience in the fast-paced world of professional sports.
Rather than waiting for the “perfect” opportunity, Jaime continued building his experience wherever he could. While finishing his graduate degree, he continued traveling to work Cowboys game days, determined to learn as much as possible and make every opportunity count. That commitment eventually led him to another opportunity with the San Antonio Spurs, where he balanced part-time roles with both organizations before accepting a full-time position with the San Antonio Spurs.
Today, Jaime has spent nine years with the San Antonio Spurs, first in Game Operations and now in Membership Services, helping create memorable experiences for thousands of fans every season. Looking back, he believes every relationship he built, every long day, and every opportunity he accepted helped prepare him for the career he enjoys today.
His journey wasn’t without challenges. Instead of allowing doubt to define him, Jaime used it as motivation to work harder, continue his education, and prove that persistence and preparation can overcome doubt.
Advice he would share with current Javelinas, “Don’t be afraid to go out and network,” Jaime said. “You never know which connection will lead to your next opportunity.”
For Jaime, Texas A&M University-Kingsville was more than the place where he earned two degrees. It was where he discovered the power of relationships, embraced every opportunity to learn, and built the foundation for a career in professional sports. His story is a reminder that success doesn’t happen by chance—it grows from showing up, putting in the work, and never being afraid to take the next opportunity when it comes.
