Texas Legislature Approves Funding for New Music Building

(President Tallant shares the good news of the the approved funding for Javelina Nation's renovation of the Bellamah Music Building)

Javelina Nation received $60 million in capital improvement funds from the Texas Legislature. The university will use these funds for renovations and expansion of the Bellamah Music Building and construction of a new general classroom building. The planning process for the renovations has already begun. 

And the Rising Star Award Goes To...

The Javelina Alumni Association is proud to announce Mr. Ed Dodds ('03) as the recipient of the 2015 Rising Star Award. The Rising Star Award recognizes graduates of the university who have experienced professional success and who are within 15 years of their graduation from Javelina Nation.

Dodds along with our Distinguished Alumni Award recipients will be honored at our Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony on Friday, October 23, 2015 in the Ballrooms of the Memorial Student Union Building. 

Remembering Dr. Rhode

Javelina Nation mourns the loss of Dr. Robert D. Rhode, who passed away on June 12 at the age of 103. Rhode joined the university as an English faculty member before leaving to serve in the U.S. Navy during World  War II. After his service, he returned to the university's English department, serving as Chair. He went on to serve as Director of Graduate Studies, Vice President and Dean of the University, and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Rhode, for whom Rhode Hall is named, was appointed Professor Emeritus in 1982.

New Faces in Alumni Services and Giving

Leslie Currie has been named executive director of alumni and development for Javelina Nation. Leslie comes to us with seven years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She holds and M.B.A. in nonprofit management. Her previous experience includes two years as Director of Development at the Texas A&M Foundation.

Dr. Steven Lukefahr, Regents Professor of Animal Science, is helping the people of Nepal rebuild their lives after a devastating earthquake using rabbits as their prime source of protein and income. Read more
