Reception for Dreaming Nepantla: Exhibition and Symposium on the Art of Santa Barraza

The Ben Bailey Art Gallery at Texas A&M University–Kingsville presents Dreaming Nepantla, an exhibition and symposium that examines the work and artistic career of South Texas artist and educator Santa Barraza. Through painting and other visual media, Barraza draws on the history, landscape, cultural traditions, and visual imagery of South Texas and the U.S.–Mexico border region. Her work invites consideration of how artists use personal experience, historical references, symbolism, and place as sources for artistic expression.
