October 11, 2023 (Kingsville, TX) – Through the incredible generosity of more than 1,500 donors, the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation recorded nearly $32.1 million in support of Texas A&M University-Kingsville at the conclusion of fiscal year 2023.

The record-breaking total highlights not only the continued dedication of our donors toward university advancement but also the positive impact they make in the lives of Javelina students.

“Javelina Nation has come together to achieve a record-breaking year, with over $32 million raised in private support for the university,” shared Foundation Chairman and retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Ricardo S. Sanchez ’73.

“Amazingly, this manages to surpass the remarkably generous $30 million raised in 2020,” he continued. “Our donors have sent an unmistakably strong message of loyalty, gratefulness, and love for our university and students.”

Among the many university initiatives supported by our donors, a $100,000 gift directed toward retention efforts at Texas A&M-Kingsville saw notable success before the year’s completion.

A portion of the funds empowered the Office of Career Engagement to provide new and additional events – on campus and in collaboration with the local Kingsville community – aimed at connecting students with critical resources like the counseling center, career networking, peer mentoring, and academic advising.

As a result, not only did Texas A&M-Kingsville witness an increase in its student retention, but it documented a nearly eight percent increase in fall enrollment, marking the university’s first positive total enrollment in seven years.

“We are profoundly grateful to our selfless alumni, friends and corporate sponsors whose generosity and vision help solidify the foundation of our success,” stated Dr. Robert Vela ’94, ’98, ’03, President of Texas A&M-Kingsville.

“Their support of our university impacts our students, researchers and faculty, ensuring that Texas A&M University-Kingsville continues to advance South Texas and beyond for generations to come.”

On the heels of its enrollment success, the university also saw an increase in its social mobility ranking by the U.S. News and World Report – jumping from the previously-held 75th position to 58th on the list – placing Texas A&M-Kingsville among the top four percent of universities in the entire country for social mobility.

“Private support for Texas A&M-Kingsville comes in many forms and for many purposes,” said Brad Walker, Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Foundation CEO. “We cannot thank our donors enough for connecting with our campus community the way you do.”

“We are grateful for each and every donor, because each gift is special, and your generosity creates opportunity for our students now and in the future,” he concluded.
